Kentucky Work Ready Program

Train for a Better Job Tuition-Free

As part of building Life After Debt, a lot of my clients realize a significant part of what pushed them into bankruptcy was they just don't make enough money to live a comfortable life. But if you have to work to pay your bills, how do you squeeze out enough money to get the training you need for a better job?

Kentucky's Work Ready Program is a great place to start. if you are:

  1. A Kentucky Resident
  2. Have a high school diploma or are working on your GED
  3. Have fewer than sixty (60) college credit hours
  4. Are eligible for Financial Aid, i.e. not in default on student loans

Eligible students can get FREE tuition for career-track certificate and diploma programs through Kentucky State Colleges and Universities. In Northern Kentucky, Gateway and Northern Kentucky University would be your college, but thanks to the cooperation of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), you can take courses offered through any participating state college or university. Best of all, many of these programs are online and require little or no in-person classes.

These are accredited programs from legitimate colleges, not bogus student loan factories in strip malls. Why would Kentucky give away free tuition? because the whole point of state sponsored education is to produce better taxpayers. The more you make, the more they make, so a small investment in your education pays off in higher taxes down the road. It really is a win/win!

So, if you feel stuck in a dead end job, please see if the Work Ready Program could be your ticket to a better life!
